Tuesdays with Dorie: blanc…er vert…manger
Every time I whip up my cream by hand I am again reminded of how much I need to just suck it up and buy a mixer. That’s all I’m going to say on that topic.
But in reality, I just wasn’t feeling the Blanc-Manger. I didn’t even gather ingredients until after work yesterday. I mean–no offense–this just seemed like a lot of work to just have berries and cream. That is, until I started craving figs and the boy suggested ground pistachios instead of almonds. Then I was sold.
The blanc-manger (or vert-manger in this case? I do so love those pistachios) turned out to be a light, fluffy, fruity delight. I was especially smitten with the fact that no oven (and only minimal stove top) was required, making this a perfect summertime treat. Lots of dishes were dirtied, but at least those don’t make me wish I used the air conditioner!
Susan of Sticky, Gooey, Creamy, Chewy selected this recipe, and I’m really glad she did. I don’t think I would have picked the recipe myself, but I learned a lot in the process and found myself truly enjoying the end process. Isn’t that why I joined Tuesdays with Dorie in the first place?
