TWD: Rick Katz’s brownies for Julia

February 9, 2010

Pssst….have you heard???

It’s absolute mayhem here in Baltimore.  With another whole bout of snow falling right now.  Tomorrow officially makes Snow Day #3 for me.  Not that I actually stay home from work on these days…such is the life of a grad student living within walking distance to campus.  (And thank goodness for that–walking distance to a market and work means no need to go out on the road with the crazy Baltimore snow drivers.)

And want to hear a secret?  I’ve been putting off getting my snow boots.  This means for optimum lower body protection, I have to bust out these recently inherited bad boys for protection:

Ridiculous, I know.

But want to hear another secret?  This is a big one.  I have discovered that I actually enjoy the snow.  Sure, the wet cold feet are a problem, but it can be quite pretty and fluffy and fun.  This is a super duper secret because my Texas family might disown me if they found out.  Although the cowboy boots might get me some brownie points.

So speaking of brownies, how ’bout this week’s TWD, eh?  I must say, that was some delicious batter!  Although to be honest, my brownies just weren’t meant to come to perfection.  I kept sticking my toothpick in, and it kept coming out clean, and they just kept being gooey inside.  This happened 3 times.  I think they were in the oven a total of 3 hours, with hour long coolings in-between.  This is not the most efficient method for cooking brownies.

So I ended up with the “rare” of brownies.  I think I prefer my brownies, like my steak, to be medium rare.  It was okay, though.  Like I said: that was some delicious batter!

Good choice, chocolatechic! These were pretty delicious after all of that, and I will definitely be giving them another go!

Boy!! That is a ton of snow. I know it’s great but only as long as you dont HAVE to get out in it.

    Great brownies. Love gooey.
